MBC Promotions is excited to announce one of the biggest promotions of the year – SOULCALIBUR® IV!
Already garnering positive reviews for its next-gen graphics and character creation mode features, MBC continued the game’s visionary concept by partnering SOULCALIBUR® IV with major consumer brands. These partnerships allowed for a great increase in SOULCALIBUR® IV’s product awareness to a massive and appropriate audience.
MBC created and executed two successful sweepstakes as well as an aggressive media and point of sale promotion for both of the SOULCALIBUR® IV secured partners: CHURCH’S CHICKEN® and JOURNEYS®.

From August 18 to September 21, CHURCH’S CHICKEN® aligned with NAMCO’s SOULCALIBUR® IV through sweepstakes, point-of-sale items as well as radio and television promotions.
The Sweepstakes entitled “Bring Your Game To A Higher Calibur”, was executed by MBC. The Grand Prize to win, is an Ultimate Gaming Room consisting of a 50” Flat-Panel TV, Xbox 360 Console, Surround Sound Theatre System, Living Room Furniture, Two Gaming Chairs, a year supply of NAMCO BANDAI Video Games and SOULCALIBUR® IV video game, while twenty (20) lucky First-Prize winners will receive SOULCALIBUR® IV games. Entry to the sweepstakes was via CHURCH’S CHICKEN® online site, which featured banner ads on the homepage and sweepstakes page.
Point of sale elements drove more customer awareness and traffic for the video game. Included in the store displays were life size standees, counter cards, drive-thru signs, table signs and window clings. A nationally distributed free standing insert was also sent to homes all over the nation, to further drive awareness of this great partnership.
As for CHURCH’S CHICKEN® awareness to the gamers, NAMCO dedicated an In-Manual Game Page with a CHURCH’S CHICKEN® coupon, in approximately 500,000 SOULCALIBUR® IV Xbox 360 game units!
The National TV Promotion, consists of 20 Markets, with top stations such as KCAL/CBS (Los Angeles, Market #2) and KDAF/CW (Dallas, Market #5). While the Radio Market has garnered 20 stations as well. Impressively, over half of these radio stations are within the top 20 markets – participating stations include KIIS-FM (Los Angeles, Market #2) and WPWX-FM (Chicago, Market # 3).
These media promotions are generating major buzz for SOULCALIBUR® IV and further solidifying its presence not only to the game aficionados but also to the diverse radio and television audience.

SOULCALIBUR® IV fans have 10,000 reasons to rejoice for the videogame via its JOURNEYS® sweepstakes promotion. The “Win a Cool $10,000 This Summer” did exactly that- giving away one Grand Prize winner $10,000 in cash and two copies of the video game. Twenty first-prize winners received a copy of the video game and one winner received a $250 JOURNEYS® gift card.
JOURNEYS® made sure the point of sale display delivered high traffic awareness in support of the video game. In addition to the employee lanyards, hanging cash wrap signs and store receipt message, there were vertical ads printed on JOURNEYS® “Back To School” catalog and in-store 30-second ads projected on their TV monitors every hour of every day (from August 7 to August 28) creating a whopping 15,872,000 impressions!
Online promotions for this partnership started with a home page kicker with a link to the SOULCALIBUR® IV site and a specially created Scoop Page- a promotional page that hyperlinks to the contest page. In addition, there was also a co-branded email blast announcing the contest to its more than 200,000 subscribers.
MBC Promotions elevated its media presence with TV/Cable and Radio Promotions. More than 50% of these TV and Radio stations were within the top 20 Markets.
For television, San Francisco Comcast Spotlight Cable system (Market #6) was secured, while New York’s Radio Station WBAB-FM (Market #1) also participated.
